I’m very happy to find out that my former professor and mentor at Boston University’s MFA program, author Ha Jin, has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Ha Jin’s work was one of the main reasons I applied to B.U.’s program. After studying under him and relying on him still for guidance, I can honestly say I’ve seldom met a more humble, approachable, and brilliant literary mind.
